Weekly Report of Activities
Monday
We started the week with an inspiring trip to Cappadocia. The trip was not only a chance to explore the region's unique natural landscapes, historical sites, and cultural heritage but also an opportunity to raise awareness about climate change and environmental conservation. Participants observed how natural formations and human activities interact, encouraging discussions on the importance of preserving such unique environments.
Tuesday
We began the day with icebreaking activities, helping participants connect and create a welcoming atmosphere. This was followed by a Turkish lesson where everyone learned some basic phrases and gained insight into Turkish culture.
Later, Meryem Ceylan, the geography teacher of our school, delivered a presentation on the basic science of climate change. The session continued with an engaging discussion on the causes and effects of climate change.
In the afternoon, Laura presented on the environmental impact of transportation, focusing on its role in climate change. This was followed by a 30-minute discussion on sustainable transportation options, such as walking, biking, and using public transport.
The Spanish team concluded the day with a 30-minute session on carbon footprint calculation, allowing participants to understand and measure their personal environmental impact.
Wednesday
The day began with Sofia's presentation on the importance of energy conservation, followed by Miguel’s discussion on ways to reduce energy consumption at school and at home. Miguel also led an activity where participants conducted an energy audit of the school building, which lasted 30-40 minutes.
Later, we gathered in the school garden for the partner presentations and planted trees, contributing to a greener environment.
In the afternoon, we visited Çorum Municipality's Zero Waste Center. We attended a presentation on the importance of waste reduction and recycling, followed by a discussion on strategies to minimize waste at school and home. To wrap up, participants took part in a waste sorting and recycling challenge, making the session both fun and educational.
Thursday
The morning was spent at Çorum Municipality's Women's Cultural Center. We attended a presentation on the environmental impact of food production, followed by a sustainable food tasting event that highlighted eco-friendly food options.
In the evening, we gathered for the certificate ceremony and farewell night. Teachers and students came together to celebrate the success of the week, sharing memorable moments and enjoying the event.
Friday
We concluded the week with a visit to Hitit University. The program included a presentation on the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, followed by a discussion on protecting local ecosystems and wildlife.
We also visited the university’s Environmental Science Department, where we had the opportunity to interact with faculty members and students. They shared their research and innovative solutions for addressing climate change and promoting sustainability.
